Athom Introduces Homey Portal, a New Smart Home Controller with Touchscreen and Rotary Ring
Athom, the company behind the Homey home automation platform, has unveiled the Homey Portal, a new tap-and-twist controller designed to simplify smart home interactions. This device features a 2.8-inch color touchscreen display encircled by a stainless-steel rotary ring, allowing users to intuitively adjust settings like lighting brightness and thermostat temperatures. The Homey Portal is an extension of Athom's existing Homey ecosystem, which includes the free Homey Cloud platform for up to five devices, Homey Pro and Homey Pro mini for local operation, and the Homey Self-Hosted Server for those preferring in-house systems. Athom is currently accepting pre-orders for the Homey Portal at an introductory price of $249, with deliveries anticipated to commence in December. The company emphasizes that smart devices already integrated into a Homey setup will be immediately accessible through the Portal without additional configuration, and it supports the Homey Flow custom two-way notification system.
