Viking Mines Advances Towards Becoming a Domestic U.S. Tungsten Producer
Viking Mines (ASX:VKA) is progressing its Linka tungsten project in Nevada, aiming to become one of the first domestic tungsten producers in the United States. The company acquired the Linka asset, which includes three brownfields tungsten mines, in December of the previous year. Recent test work has confirmed a 56.9% tungsten trioxide (WO3) concentrate at a 76% recovery rate, indicating the project's metallurgical potential. The Linka mine, which ceased production in the 1950s due to falling prices, is believed to still hold significant mineralization. Viking Mines is currently undertaking its first drilling program at the project in over 40 years, with an initial plan for approximately 63 drill holes and over 3,000 meters of drilling. The primary target areas are around the historical Linka mine to confirm past drill results and to test areas where mineralization extends under cover.
