Duchess Sophie Concludes Zambia Tour with Focus on Eye Health and Remembrance
Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, has concluded her tour of Zambia, which included a visit to Livingstone and the Victoria Falls. During her visit, she laid flowers at the Victoria Falls Cenotaph in memory of those who died during the First World War. The Duchess also visited Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where she observed the Victoria Falls. Her itinerary included a visit to Mukuni Village to a health clinic dedicated to eliminating trachoma, a cause she has championed with the ambition of eradicating it across the Commonwealth by 2030. She was greeted by traditional Zambian dancers upon her arrival at Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport and engaged with local communities, including participating in sporting activities with schoolchildren.
