University of Aberdeen Opens UK's First GP and Mental Health Teaching Centre
The University of Aberdeen, in partnership with NHS Grampian and Aberdeen City Health & Social Care Partnership, has opened the UK's first General Practice and Mental Health Teaching Centre. Located within the University’s Health Sciences Building at Foresterhill, the center has already begun seeing patients and welcomed its first cohort of final-year medical students. This facility is designed to function like a modern GP practice, providing thousands of additional patient appointments annually for health problems requiring attention within one to two days. It aims to relieve pressure on existing GP practices and create more student placement opportunities in general practice and psychiatry, fostering the development of future doctors.
