Boston Police Alert Public to Surge in Downtown Cellphone Robberies and Financial Fraud
Boston police have issued a warning to the public following a series of cellphone robberies in the downtown area, specifically in Downtown Crossing, South Station, and Tremont Street. The incidents have involved suspects stealing phones and subsequently using them to commit financial fraud. In one case, a victim's phone was used to make unauthorized transactions, open a credit account, and withdraw money from the victim's bank account. Police have arrested two individuals in connection with these crimes. Dae-Quan Jatae Davis, 25, was apprehended and charged with unarmed robbery, and a juvenile suspect was also detained. The police are urging residents to secure their phones and use security features like passcodes and multi-factor authentication.
