Brazilian Federal Police Accuse 16 in 2024 Plane Crash Investigation
Brazil's federal police have formally accused 16 individuals, including current and former employees of the airline Voepass, in connection with a plane crash that occurred in 2024, resulting in the deaths of all 62 people on board. The crash involved an ATR 72-500 twin-engine turboprop that plummeted 13,000 feet into a residential area in Vinhedo, near Sao Paulo, on August 9, 2024. The accused include Voepass owner and president Jose Luiz Felicio Filho. The allegations against them involve malpractice, omission, and negligence, which are believed to have endangered air traffic safety and led to the fatal disaster. Local prosecutors are yet to decide on formal charges. The crash claimed the lives of 58 passengers and four crew members. Thalles Andrade, representing the victims' families, has announced plans to seek damages from those deemed responsible, including individuals and companies involved in the airline's operations and ticket sales.
