Study Questions Safety of Waymo Robotaxis Compared to NYC For-Hire Vehicles

The study found that Waymo's robotaxis have a higher rate of crashes resulting in serious injuries or deaths per mile driven than the city's for-hire fleet. The report challenges Waymo's claims of superior safety, suggesting that the limited miles driven by Waymo vehicles may skew safety data. Waymo has questioned the study's methodology, emphasizing the need for accurate comparisons.
