Tropical Storm Warnings Issued for Florida Panhandle Amid Flood and Tornado Risks
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee has issued Tropical Storm Warnings for parts of the Florida Panhandle, including Franklin, Wakulla, and Liberty counties, as Hurricane Isaias approaches. The storm, currently in the Gulf of Mexico with sustained winds of 80 mph, is expected to bring hazardous conditions starting Friday morning. Forecasts indicate wind speeds of 20-30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, along with a potential storm surge of 4-6 feet in coastal areas. Heavy rainfall of 3-7 inches, with isolated amounts exceeding 10 inches, is anticipated, increasing the risk of flash flooding. Additionally, the region faces a heightened threat of tornadoes, particularly on Friday and Saturday.
