Holcim and Salt X Achieve Breakthrough in Electrified Cement Production
Holcim and Salt X have announced a breakthrough in producing Portland-quality cement clinker using a fully electrified process. This development marks a significant shift from traditional fossil-fueled kilns to electrification, addressing core chemical process emissions. The partnership aims to commission a full-scale electric pilot plant by 2028, supported by public and private funding, including a $4.6 million EU Innovation Fund grant.
