Swedish Air Force's GlobalEye Radar Planes to Enhance NATO's Capabilities
The Swedish Air Force has ordered a trio of Saab GlobalEye radar planes, which are set to complement NATO's existing fleet of airborne early warning and control aircraft. Major General Jonas Wikman, head of the Swedish Air Force, announced that these aircraft will operate alongside NATO's planned purchase of 10 GlobalEyes, which are intended to replace the Boeing E-3 AWACS. This move comes after Sweden placed an order for its third GlobalEye in 2024, and the country has already donated two older Saab 340 radar planes to Ukraine. The GlobalEye aircraft are designed to provide comprehensive airborne early warning and control across multiple domains, enhancing both national and allied defense capabilities.
