Jacobs to Provide Planning Services for U.K. Small Modular Reactor Projects
Jacobs has been appointed by Great British Energy – Nuclear to provide planning and consenting services for proposed small modular reactor (SMR) projects in the United Kingdom. The initial focus will be on the Gwyndod site, formerly known as Wylfa Newydd, and the Oldbury-on-Severn site. Jacobs will work alongside planning consultancy Quod to support Development Consent Order applications, Town and Country Planning Act submissions, and post-application activities. The services include planning approvals, stakeholder engagement, environmental coordination, and transport assessments. This appointment builds on Jacobs' extensive experience in the U.K. nuclear sector, including projects like Sizewell C and Hinkley Point C.
