Kitten Rescued from Massapequa Sewer Just Before Rainstorm Threatens Its Life
A kitten named Norton was rescued from a sewer in Massapequa after being trapped for several days. The rescue operation was led by local animal rescuer John Debacker, who responded to cries heard by a neighbor walking their dog. The kitten was in danger of being washed away by an impending rainstorm. Debacker used recorded 'meow' noises to locate Norton in the sewer, eventually pulling the frightened and resistant kitten to safety. Norton was then taken to Second Chance Animal Rescue in Levittown, where he received a bath and will be put up for adoption after receiving vaccinations and a clean bill of health.
