Owens, who left the show prior to Weiss's arrival, is seeking $50 million in funding to create a new hour-long news program. The proposed show aims to include former 60 Minutes staffers such as Scott Pelley, Sharyn Alfonsi, and Cecilia Vega. The project is being pitched to major streaming platforms like Netflix, Apple TV, and YouTube. However, securing funding and a platform is crucial for the venture's success, as it would need to operate on a limited budget and build a new subscriber base.
