USC Receives $200 Million Donation to Boost AI Education
The University of Southern California (USC) has received a $200 million donation from Mark Stevens, a Silicon Valley venture capitalist and university trustee, to enhance artificial intelligence (AI) education across its campus. This donation, one of the largest in USC's history, will rename the School of Advanced Computing to the USC Mark and Mary Stevens School of Computing and Artificial Intelligence. The funds will be used to recruit faculty and expand AI research and applications in various fields, including medicine, cybersecurity, and the arts. USC President Beong-Soo Kim emphasized the importance of integrating AI into existing strengths of the university to create a national center for AI scholarship.
