Spain Projected to Surpass France as World's Most Visited Country by 2040, Study Predicts
A new study by Deloitte and Google predicts that Spain will overtake France to become the world's most visited country by 2040. The study forecasts that Spain's annual visitor numbers will reach 110 million, surpassing France's projected 105 million. This comes after France welcomed 102 million international tourists in 2025, with Spain close behind at 96.8 million. Globally, the number of trips is expected to increase to 2.4 billion by 2040, with European countries capturing the largest share. The United States and China are anticipated to maintain their positions in the top five most visited countries, while Mexico is projected to move up to fifth place.
