Washington Family Sues Over Infant Botulism from Recalled Formula
A family in Lacey, Washington, has filed a lawsuit against Nara Organics and Target after their infant was hospitalized with botulism. The lawsuit alleges that the Nara Organics Whole Milk Organic Infant Formula, which was recalled, was contaminated with Clostridium botulinum. The infant, identified as I.N., was fed the formula as his sole source of nutrition and began showing symptoms of botulism, such as lethargy and poor muscle tone. After being admitted to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital, he was diagnosed with infant botulism and treated with the antitoxin BabyBIG. The lawsuit claims that the formula was marketed as FDA-approved, which the FDA does not do for infant formulas.
