Judge Sentences Kouri Richins to Life in Prison Following Sons' Pleas
Kouri Richins has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of her husband, Eric Richins. The sentencing followed emotional victim impact statements from the couple's three young sons, who expressed fear for their safety if their mother were ever released. The children, who were all under ten years old at the time of their father's death, described a tumultuous home life and urged the court to impose the maximum sentence. Kouri Richins was convicted of aggravated murder for poisoning her husband with a lethal dose of fentanyl in March 2022. The case also involved charges of attempted murder, insurance fraud, and forgery. Despite the conviction, Richins maintains her innocence and plans to appeal the sentence.
