South Korea Launches AI Disinformation Detection Campaign Targeting Gen Z
The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) has initiated a two-month campaign titled "In the AI Era, Equipping Verification Tools Is the Norm!" to combat AI-generated disinformation. The campaign, running through October and November on official social media channels like Instagram and YouTube, primarily targets teenagers and the MZ generation, who exhibit high social media and generative AI usage rates. The KCC will release "Real vs. Fake" discrimination quizzes in card news and short-form video formats, presenting both authentic and AI-manipulated content for users to assess. Additionally, a "Verification Tool Challenge" in November will encourage users to share their information-verification methods through short-form videos. Participants will receive campaign badges and coupons for sharing their verified images on social media. The KCC will also provide a "false information detection checklist" and guidance on using a "Generative AI User Participation Platform" for reporting risk cases.
