Air New Zealand Trials Digital ID System to Streamline Travel
Air New Zealand has successfully trialed a digital identity system aimed at reducing passport checks and streamlining travel processes. The system allows travelers to add passport information to the Air NZ app, enabling biometric verification through facial scanning at various touchpoints. The trial, conducted on flights between Auckland and Hong Kong, demonstrated the potential for a more seamless travel experience by minimizing document checks. The airline is collaborating with government agencies and industry partners to refine the technology and plans to expand testing to other locations, including Australia.
