US Army Evaluates AI-Enabled Battlefield Technology for Future Use
The US Army is assessing its Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) system, developed with partners like Anduril and Palantir, after a large-scale exercise at Fort Irwin, California. The exercise, part of Project Convergence Capstone, involved nearly 10,000 soldiers and tested over 100 new technologies. NGC2 aims to streamline battlefield data and communications using artificial intelligence. The Army is determining which components performed well enough to be scaled and which should be cut. Challenges included technology overheating in the desert, prompting soldiers to improvise solutions.
