Nationwide Drought Prompts Early Water Restrictions
A severe drought affecting over 61% of the United States has led to the implementation of water restrictions across 45 states, according to USA Today. This is the highest percentage of drought conditions in nearly four years, as reported by the U.S. Drought Monitor. States such as Texas, Florida, and Arizona are already enforcing measures to conserve water ahead of the summer season. In Corpus Christi, Texas, stage 3 water restrictions are in place, limiting lawn watering and car washing. Sarasota County, Florida, has increased enforcement of lawn-watering violations, while Kearny, Arizona, is urging residents to reduce water usage by 30%. These measures are part of a broader effort to manage water resources amid ongoing drought conditions.
