U.S. Army Awards Contracts to GM Defense, Ford, and BC Customs for ISV-Heavy Prototypes
The U.S. Army has awarded contracts to GM Defense, Ford, and BC Customs to develop prototypes for the heavy variant of the Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV). Each company will provide three ISV-Heavy variants by March 30, 2027, as part of the other transaction agreements (OTA). These vehicles will undergo operational assessments and limited developmental testing with the Army Test and Evaluation Command. The awards were made on June 30, and the Wall Street Journal first reported the news. GM Defense will offer a militarized version of its Chevrolet Silverado HD 3500 truck, while Ford will provide a modified version of its F-Series pickup truck. BC Customs has not commented on its offering. This initiative is part of the Army's effort to enhance lethality and operational flexibility on the modern battlefield.
