Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman to Participate in NPR Event on Suicide Prevention and Mental Health in the Black Community
U.S. Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman of New Jersey is scheduled to participate in an NPR event titled 'Michel Martin Going There,' which will focus on suicide prevention and mental health within the Black community. The program, produced by SAVE Board Member Catherine 'Cat' McKenzie, will examine the rising rates of suicide among Black youth and the disparities in accessing mental health care and support. The discussion will feature personal experiences, available resources, and strategies for communities to move forward. Other notable participants include author and former BET Networks Chair and CEO Debra Lee. The event will be taped at NPR headquarters in Washington, D.C., and will be accessible on NPR’s YouTube channel and through NPR member organizations.
