Rain Delays Indy 500 Qualifying to Sunday
Heavy rain on Saturday, May 16, forced the postponement of Indianapolis 500 qualifying at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The track remained too wet to complete the scheduled qualifying runs for all 33 drivers. As a result, qualifying has been rescheduled for Sunday, May 17. Weather conditions on Sunday are expected to be warmer, with temperatures in the 80s and a 25% chance of rain. The revised schedule includes three qualifying sessions, starting at noon ET, to determine the starting grid for the race. Drivers will have limited opportunities to post competitive times due to the condensed schedule.
