New Cancer Shot Shows Promise in Dissolving Tumors for Resistant Patients
A new cancer treatment, amivantamab, has demonstrated significant efficacy in dissolving tumors in patients whose cancer has become resistant to chemotherapy and immunotherapy. In a study involving 102 participants with head and neck cancer, 43 patients experienced a reduction in tumor size, with 15 seeing their tumors dissolve completely. The treatment, developed by Johnson & Johnson, targets cancer cells by blocking epidermal growth factor receptors and MET pathways, while also activating the immune system. The trial results are considered unprecedented, offering hope to patients with limited treatment options.
