Air-Taxi Company Completes First Test Flight of Electric Craft in NYC, Signaling New Era in Urban Mobility
An air-taxi company has successfully completed its first test flight of an electric helicopter between JFK Airport and Midtown Manhattan. The flight, conducted by Joby Aviation, marks a significant step towards integrating air taxis into urban transportation. The aircraft, which is emission-free and quieter than traditional helicopters, completed the journey in approximately 15 minutes. The company has partnered with Delta Air Lines and Uber to offer a seamless travel experience that combines ground and air transportation. The initiative is part of a three-year pilot program with the Port Authority and the Federal Aviation Administration to test next-generation aircraft for urban air mobility.
