Senator Baldwin Proposes Bill to End Sports Blackouts, Aims to Lower Viewing Costs
U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin has introduced the 'For the Fans Act,' a bill designed to eliminate sports blackouts and reduce the cost of watching professional sports. The bill targets league-owned streaming services, prohibiting them from blacking out local games and requiring leagues to ensure local fans can watch all games of in-state teams. This initiative follows complaints about the high costs and complexity of accessing sports broadcasts, exemplified by a recent Packers game that was only available on local TV in certain Wisconsin markets, forcing many fans to subscribe to additional services.
