Delaware Enacts New Voting Rights Protections for Black Voters
Delaware has enacted the Delaware John Lewis Voting Rights Act, providing new protections against election discrimination for Black voters and other minority groups. The law, signed by Governor Matt Meyer, aims to safeguard voting rights by allowing challenges to voter intimidation and discriminatory practices in state court. It also directs courts to interpret election laws in ways that expand access to voting. The legislation received bipartisan support and is seen as a response to the erosion of federal voting rights protections.
