Lenora Iverson's Passing Marks the End of a Life Rich in Family and Community Engagement
Lenora Ione Iverson passed away on May 11, 2026, at the age of 93. A private service was held at Grace Lutheran Church in Des Moines, attended by her immediate family. Born on February 12, 1933, in Bowman, North Dakota, Lenora was raised during the Great Depression on her family's ranch in Harding County, South Dakota. Her education began in a one-room schoolhouse and concluded at the University of South Dakota, where she joined the Chi Omega sorority. In 1954, she married Norman Iverson, a high school classmate, and they relocated to Des Moines for Norman's job. Lenora worked at a law firm before becoming a mother. Known for her creativity and resourcefulness, she maintained a large vegetable garden and was an accomplished cook and seamstress. Lenora was actively involved in her children's activities and later enjoyed traveling and ballroom dancing with her husband.
