Flash Flood Risk Persists in Southwest U.S.
The remnants of Tropical Storm Rachel have caused significant flooding across parts of the Southwest U.S., including Nevada, Utah, southeast Idaho, and northern and central Arizona. Flood watches remain in effect through Monday afternoon, particularly in areas such as the Grand Canyon. While Rachel has dissipated, a separate weather system is bringing additional rainfall to the region, with precipitation expected to taper off by Wednesday. Las Vegas experienced record-breaking rainfall over the weekend, tying its all-time daily rainfall record for October with 1.08 inches (2.74 cm). Localized flash flooding remains a concern, especially in areas already saturated from previous storms. The National Weather Service continues to monitor conditions closely.
