Family of 11-Year-Old with Brain Tumor Camps to Save Money for Treatment
The Tanton family from Denham Springs, Louisiana, is camping outdoors to save money for their 11-year-old daughter Katie's treatment for a rare brain tumor, diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma. Katie has been undergoing a clinical trial at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Her parents, Breann and Austin Tanton, have moved out of their home and state to manage expenses. The tumor's shrinkage has caused swelling and cysts, worsening Katie's symptoms. Despite the challenges, the family remains hopeful and united. Austin's sister, Annie Normand, is organizing a fundraiser to support Katie's treatment, with a goal of raising $50,000.
