Elevated Seas and Strong Winds Expected Along North Carolina Coast
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a marine forecast for the coastal waters of North Carolina, highlighting an extended period of elevated seas and strong winds. Starting Monday afternoon, a cold front will bring northerly winds of 15 to 25 knots (17-29 mph) with gusts up to 30 knots (34 mph). Seas are expected to range from 5 to 9 feet (1.5-2.7 meters) through much of the week. Small Craft Advisories are in effect for several areas, including Albemarle Sound, Pamlico Sound, and waters near Cape Hatteras. Winds and seas are anticipated to be higher in and near thunderstorms.
