U.S. Representative Sylvia García Celebrates Release of Víctor Salgado, Calls for Continued Justice
U.S. Representative Sylvia García of Houston has expressed relief and satisfaction following the release of Víctor Salgado from ICE custody. Salgado had been detained for nearly two months after witnessing an ICE agent fatally shoot his brother, Lorenzo Salgado. Representative García stated that Víctor Salgado should never have been held under such circumstances and emphasized that his release allows him to return to his family. The release was an administrative decision by the federal government, not a direct result of a habeas corpus petition filed by his defense.
