Rhode Island Delegation Advocates for Medicare and Medicaid Amid Rising Health Costs
U.S. Senators Sheldon Whitehouse and Jack Reed, along with U.S. Representative Seth Magaziner, gathered with seniors and health officials in Coventry, Rhode Island, to commemorate the 61st anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid. The event highlighted the delegation's commitment to lowering health care costs for Rhode Islanders. The discussion focused on the impact of recent federal cuts to Medicaid and the expiration of enhanced Affordable Care Act premium tax credits, which have contributed to rising health care costs. The delegation emphasized the importance of these programs in providing affordable health care to over 309,000 Rhode Islanders, including vulnerable populations such as nursing home residents and individuals with disabilities.
