Wisconsin Sees Rise in Unemployment Rates Across All Regions in January
The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development has released new data indicating an increase in unemployment rates across all metropolitan areas, major cities, and counties in the state for January 2026. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates, unemployment rates rose in all 13 metropolitan areas and 35 largest cities over the month. Over the year, unemployment rates increased in 32 cities, decreased in two, and remained unchanged in one. Similarly, all 72 counties experienced a rise in unemployment rates over the month, with 61 counties seeing an increase over the year.
