US Lawmaker Questions Ivanhoe Atlantic's Alleged Ties with Chinese Entities, Raising Security Concerns
US Representative John Moolenaar has raised concerns about Ivanhoe Atlantic's alleged connections with Chinese state-owned enterprises, highlighting potential national security risks. In a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Moolenaar pointed out that Ivanhoe Atlantic, a mining company, has ties to Chinese companies CITIC Group and Zijin Mining through its major shareholder, I-Pulse. Moolenaar emphasized the strategic implications of these ties, suggesting they could compromise US critical mineral supply chains. Ivanhoe Atlantic has refuted these claims, stating that it is a separate entity from Ivanhoe Mines, which has Chinese shareholders. The company asserts its commitment to US national security, with plans to supply minerals exclusively to US and allied markets.
