Binc Celebrates 30 Years with Gala to Establish Endowment for Booksellers
The Book Industry Charitable Foundation (Binc) is celebrating its 30th anniversary by hosting its first-ever gala in New York City. The event aims to create an endowment to secure the foundation's financial future. Binc, originally established by Borders Group employees in 1996, has provided over $14 million in assistance to more than 12,000 store employees and awarded 1,070 scholarships. The foundation supports booksellers and frontline employees at comic shops, offering financial aid for housing instability, medical costs, and mental health initiatives. The gala, set for May 13, has sold all 300 seats, reflecting strong industry support.
