Connecticut Colleges Expand AI Programs to Meet Growing Demand
Connecticut colleges and universities are expanding their academic offerings to include more artificial intelligence (AI) programs in response to increasing demand. A free online AI Academy launched in early 2025, in partnership with Google, has already seen 3,500 residents complete the program, surpassing initial enrollment expectations. This initiative is part of a broader trend where educational institutions are adapting to the rapid growth of AI technology, which is reshaping career paths and academic interests. Institutions like Quinnipiac University and Western Connecticut State University have introduced new AI-focused degrees and certificates. These programs aim to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in a job market increasingly influenced by AI. The expansion includes majors, certificates, and graduate degrees in AI, with a focus on practical applications in business and healthcare.
