Reddit Expands AI Moderation Tools Amid Moderator Concerns
Reddit is expanding its AI-powered Rules Hub moderation tools to all newly created subreddits, as announced in a recent blog post. The Rules Hub, which utilizes large language models, has been tested across over 700 subreddits and is set to be widely available later this year. While Reddit claims that the Rules Hub is not a replacement for human moderation, it could eventually replace the Automoderator bot, which has been part of Reddit since 2015. The Rules Hub aims to handle nuances and natural language better than Automoderator, which relies on exact keyword matching. Despite these advancements, many moderators have expressed dissatisfaction, fearing the potential phasing out of Automoderator, which they heavily rely on for managing communities.
