Brooklyn Half Marathon Faces Unseasonably Warm Weather on Saturday
The Brooklyn Half Marathon, scheduled for Saturday, is expected to take place under unusually warm conditions, with temperatures forecasted to reach a high of 80°F (27°C). Organizers are preparing for the heat by implementing safety measures, including air-conditioned medical tents, ice distribution along the course, and a temporary life-support machine on standby. The race director has advised the 29,000 participants to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and pace themselves appropriately. The warm weather raises concerns, as past races have seen fatalities even under cooler conditions. In 2022, a runner died on a 65°F (18°C) day, and in 2023, another passed away when temperatures were 69°F (20°C).
