Wes Edens Faces Alleged $1 Billion Blackmail Plot Amid NBA Draft Lottery
Mallory Edens, daughter of Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Wes Edens, represented the team at the 2026 NBA draft lottery in Chicago. This event coincides with reports of an alleged $1 billion extortion plot against Wes Edens by Changli 'Sophia' Luo, a China-born entrepreneur. Luo, who had a brief relationship with Edens, is accused of threatening to release compromising videos and photos unless Edens apologized and took responsibility for their encounter. Luo allegedly contacted Edens' family and threatened to ruin his reputation. She was indicted in 2025 and pleaded not guilty to charges including blackmail. Luo was arrested at JFK airport while attempting to leave for China and is currently under home detention.
