Libraries For Kids Partners with May River Shrimp Festival to Boost Literacy
Libraries For Kids International has been named the official charity partner for the 2026 May River Shrimp Festival Hawaiian Shirt 5K in Bluffton, South Carolina. The event, part of the annual May River Shrimp Festival, is scheduled for July 25 at Oyster Factory Park. This partnership aims to raise community awareness and support for Libraries For Kids' mission to improve literacy and education for children in rural Africa by providing books to publicly funded schools. The 5K race will feature a scenic route through Old Town Bluffton, encouraging participants to wear Hawaiian shirts. The event will include a post-race celebration with music, prizes, and refreshments. Volunteers from the local community, including military personnel from nearby bases, will assist in organizing the event.
