NJBPU Seeks Public Input on Virtual Power Plant Program to Lower Electric Bills
The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) is holding a public meeting to gather feedback on a proposed Virtual Power Plant (VPP) program. This initiative, developed in response to Governor Mikie Sherrill's executive order, aims to reduce electricity costs and improve grid reliability by connecting smart energy devices like home batteries and electric vehicle chargers. Participants could receive financial incentives for adjusting their energy use during peak times. The meeting will include educational panels and opportunities for public input, with the goal of creating New Jersey's first statewide VPP program.
