Kentucky Lawmaker Renews Push for Domestic Violence Offender Registry
State Representative Kim Holloway, a Republican from Mayfield, Kentucky, is renewing efforts to establish a public registry for repeat domestic violence offenders. Holloway presented draft legislation to the interim judiciary committee, accompanied by two domestic violence survivors. The proposed bill stipulates that individuals convicted of a qualifying domestic violence offense would be listed in a public database following a second conviction. Information regarding first-time offenders would be accessible exclusively to law enforcement. Additionally, the legislation would mandate online dating platforms to flag profiles created by individuals with domestic violence convictions.
