Cold Lake Museum Exhibit Celebrates Canadian Armed Forces Fitness History
The Cold Lake Museum in Canada has unveiled an exhibit that chronicles the history of fitness, sport, and recreation within the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). The exhibit is particularly meaningful for Josey Yearley, a former Physical Education and Recreation Instructor (PERI) who served in the CAF for over four decades. Yearley reflects on her career, highlighting the challenges and rewards of working in military fitness, especially as a woman during her era. The exhibit showcases the evolution of the PERI trade, which was established to unify fitness and recreation roles across the military branches, emphasizing leadership, professionalism, and the pursuit of excellence.
