Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre Achieves Major Sustainability Milestone with Composting Initiative
The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) has successfully diverted 92.91 tonnes of food organics from landfill through its commercial composting efforts. This initiative is part of GCCEC's broader sustainability strategy, which aims to reduce carbon emissions and enhance community benefits. The Centre has also been recognized with the EarthCheck Regional Leader status for its waste recycling efforts. The GCCEC's structured waste management program, embedded across all operations, has exceeded key targets in the second year of its five-year environmental strategy. The Centre's achievements include a significant reduction in CO2 emissions and the successful implementation of a 10-cent container recycling program, which has recycled over 150,000 bottles.
