Alabama Governor Kay Ivey Sets November Execution Window for Michael Taylor
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has established a 30-hour execution window for death row inmate Michael Shannon Taylor. The window is set to begin at 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2026, and conclude at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026. Taylor was sentenced to death for the 1991 capital murders of Ivan and Lucille Moore. The Alabama Supreme Court granted the state's request in June to authorize the Alabama Department of Corrections to carry out Taylor's death sentence and directed Governor Ivey to set the timeframe. According to a letter dated August 31, Governor Ivey stated that she currently has no plans to grant clemency but retains the constitutional authority to issue a reprieve or commutation before the execution is carried out. Taylor, 54, is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection.
