European Forest Institute Establishes First UK Base in Edinburgh to Advance Forest Governance
The European Forest Institute (EFI) has opened its first UK office in Edinburgh, marking a new chapter in its collaboration with UK institutions. This new base, the EFI's first new location since 2022, joins existing hubs in Finland, Spain, Italy, Malaysia, and Germany. The Edinburgh office will host the International Forest Governance Hub, a collaborative platform dedicated to advancing inclusive and evidence-based approaches to forest governance. This initiative will involve policy engagement, applied research, shared learning, and strategic partnerships. Edinburgh was chosen due to its world-class forestry research, academic and policy communities, internationally engaged institutions, and growing expertise in climate, nature, and sustainable development. The office aims to strengthen links between Scottish, UK, European, and international partners, fostering new opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and evidence-based policymaking.
