US Coast Guard Integrates V-BAT Drone and Tests New Icebreaker Systems in Bering Sea
The US Coast Guard (USCG) has integrated the Vertical Take-off and Landing BAT (V-BAT) unmanned aircraft system (UAS) aboard a patrol ship during recent Bering Sea patrols. This marks the first integration of the V-BAT on a patrol ship, providing persistent airborne surveillance to support various USCG missions. Additionally, the USCG conducted a proof-of-concept fueling evolution using the newest polar icebreaker, USCGC Storis, in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. These operations are part of the USCG's efforts to enhance its capabilities in the Arctic and High North regions, where there has been an increase in activities by US adversaries, including Chinese and Russian military vessels.
