Honeywell Aerospace Adapts to European Demand for ITAR-Free Weapons
Honeywell Aerospace is actively responding to the European market's increasing demand for ITAR-free weapons. The company's CEO, Jim Currier, highlighted the importance of leveraging Honeywell's extensive European footprint, which includes operations in 13 countries and manufacturing facilities in five. This strategic move aligns with European governments' preference for more sovereign defense exposure, as they seek to reduce reliance on US-controlled weapon components. The trend is driven by concerns over the restrictions imposed by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which limit the ability of foreign governments to sell or transfer weapons containing US-origin components. Industry officials and analysts are closely monitoring this shift, as it could impact US defense firms' market share in Europe.
